The Airport (the third largest in Spain) is located in the city of Alicante, on the coast. There are daily flights to most of Europe’s major airports. From the north there are buses and trains to the airport, from the south only buses for now.

The road network of the Costa Blanca is one of the best and most expanded throughout the country. It takes between 30 and 90 minutes to get from the airport to the different destinations. Orihuela Costa is located just 40 minutes from Alicante airport and also 40 minutes from the airport in Murcia / Corvera inaugurated on January 15, 2019.

Live in Torrevieja

With almost 90,000 inhabitants it is one of the most important cities of Alicante and one of the most famous tourist centers of the whole Valencian Community.

The origin of the name of Torrevieja refers to the old watchtowers. Some names of the most known areas are Torrelamata, Cabo Cervera, El Chaparral, La Siesta, Los Balcones, San Luis, Playa de los Locos, Playa de los Náufragos, Mar Azul and Punta Prima.

Historically, Torrevieja owes its prosperity to the salinas, the most important in Europe. Until recently it was a small and quiet fishing village. But then it began to produce salt for the rest of the country giving work and increasingly expanding its exports. Nowadays, the product is shipped to all parts of the world, leaving only a quarter in Spain.

These salines also contribute to the healthy climate of the whole place by the beneficial particles that remain in the air as their pink waters evaporate and calm as a mirror.

This beautiful area also has a natural park with two very large lagoons: those of La Mata and Torrevieja. Next to the salt pans they gave rise, due to its crystalline waters, to one of my favorite habaneras: “Torrevieja is a mirror”. The habaneras is a musical genre originally from Cuba and are part of the culture of Torrevieja. There is even a contest of this genre that grows year by year in popularity and importance.

Torrevieja is a true melting pot of cultures, not only for its international style, but also for its mixture of new and old Spanish customs. Traditions such as napping are still an important aspect of the Spanish lifestyle. So do not wait too long in the hours from 2 to 5, many stores are closed at that time! But there are exceptions.
